Given the use and physico-chemical properties (vapor pressure between 3.65E-08 and 4.52E-08 Pa) of alkyl ketene dimers, photodegradation is not seen as a relevant sink.


Based on the available data, alkyl ketene dimers are expected to hydrolyse readily under neutral and alkaline conditions in the environment and are assumed to be stable to hydrolysis at acidic pH values.
