The substance is an organic colorless liquid with a typical alcohol odour, which melts at -114.7°C and boils at 99.5°C at an atmospheric pressure of 1013 hPa. It is less dense than water with a density of 0.8 g/cm3at 20°C. The substance has a vapor pressure of 23.2 hPa and 16.7 hPa at 25°C and 20°C, respectively. The substance is reported to be soluble in water and has an n-octanol/water partition coefficient (log Kow) of 0.6 at 25°C. This substance is flammable, with a flash point in the range of 24 to 31°C. The substance does not possess oxidizing or explosive properties. The substance has an estimated dissociation constant of 15.31, which suggest that it will predominantly exist in the undissociated form throughout the environmentally relevant pH range of 5 to 9.
