Boiling point: Decomposes without boiling

The parent acid of monosodium citrate, citric acid, decomposes before boiling (Lide 1992). A metal salt would be expected to boil at a higher temperature than its parent acid and, therefore, decomposition before boiling can also be predicted for monosodium citrate.
