Description of key information

Calcium magnesium carbonate oxide is not acutely toxic.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Acute toxicity: via oral route

Endpoint conclusion
Dose descriptor:
LD50
Value:
2 000 mg/kg bw

Additional information

In an acute oral toxicity test in rats with CaMgO2 and CaMg(OH)4, no deaths occurred at the limit doses of 2000 mg/kg bw. Therefore, the LD50 is >2000 mg/kg bw. This figure is also applicable to CaCO3MgO by read-across.

An acute dermal toxicity study with CaCO3MgO is considered to be scientifically unjustified.

An acute inhalation toxicity study with CaCO3MgO is considered to be scientifically unjustified.

Justification for classification or non-classification

The available information indicates that CaCO3MgO is not acutely toxic or harmful. Therefore, classification of CaCO3MgO for acute toxicity is not warranted.
