Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Eyes: Rinse with water and seek medical advice

Emergency measure - Skin: Wash with soap and water

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Seek medical attention

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: The product may burn to form carbon, sulphur and lead

oxides.  All types of extinguisher may be used.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Solid: Wear protective clothing (goggles, gloves). Collect

using suitable equipment, avoid dust formation. If dust

formation cannot be avoided, wear a dust mask with particle

filler. Keep unauthorised persons away. Solution: Wear

protective clothing (goggles, gloves). If possible pump

spilt solution into a suitable container; otherwise absorb

using suitable material before collecting as for solids.

Acid resistant containers should be used which are kept

tightly closed and labelled. Dispose of waste by

incineration.

Handling and storage

Handling: The substance is normally used as an aqueous solution.

During filling and use wear suitable protective clothing

(gloves, eye protection). The solid product is rarely

supplied.  An extractor fan should be used during filling,

drying and dissolving in vessels.

Storage: Store in closed containers at room temperature

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Solid polluted product may be recovered by dissolving in

distilled water(impure water causes precipitation of the

metal ion) and solid impurities separated by filtration. An

analytical check for purity should be performed.

Recrystallization may be necessary.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: Precipitation of the metal cation in alkaline medium as

hydroxide.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: After absorption on a chemical binder the aqueous substance

may be disposed of at a controlled site.  The solid

substance may also be disposed of at a controlled site if

recovery is not possible (but NB the substance is a

heavy-metal (salt)).

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Not given in German c.a. summary. Water purification

systems: Not given in German c.a. summary.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The substance will not enter the public domain.
