Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Oxidizing properties: Not considered relevant for divanadium trioxide based on chemical structure and oxygen content.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Oxidising properties:
no

Additional information

In accordance with Regulation (EC) No 1907/200, Annex VII, Section 7.13, Column 2, the study does not need to be conducted as V2O3 does not contain a surplus of oxygen or any structural groups that have a tendency to react exothermic with combustible material (oxygen content is 32 %). Forms of vanadium with higher oxygen content (i.e. V2O5) are not oxidising: Read-across from another form of vanadium with a higher oxygen content (i.e. V2O5 with an oxygen content of 44 %) to V2O3 (oxygen content of 32 %) indicates that V2O3 does not have any oxidising potential.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Oxidizing properties:Not considered relevant for divanadium trioxide based on chemical structure and oxygen content.

Divanadium trioxide does not need to be classified as oxidizing solid according to GHS and EC 1272/2008 (CLP-Guideline) Annex 1: 2.14.

Divanadium trioxide does not need to be classified as oxidizing solid in Division 5.1 according to the UN-Transport Regulations.
