Description of key information

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Skin sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
no adverse effect observed (not sensitising)
Additional information:

In a Buehler skin sensitisation study, 20 female guinea-pigs received three occluded dermal induction applications and one similar challenge application of Isononanol (Tradename: Nonanol N). Ten untreated female control animals were concurrently challenged with undiluted Nonanol N. The challenge with undiluted test substance did not cause any skin reactions neither in animals of the control group nor in test animals 24 and 48 hours after removal of the patches.

Migrated from Short description of key information:
Not sensitising, based on test data.

Respiratory sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Additional information:

There are no data on respiratory sensitization for the higher alcohols. Inhalation exposure to the higher alcohols is unlikely because of the low vapor pressure of these materials at standard temperature and pressure.

Migrated from Short description of key information:
No data

Justification for classification or non-classification

No classification for sensitization is indicated according to the general classification and labeling requirements for dangerous substances and preparations (Directive 67-548-EEC) or the classification, labeling and packaging (CLP) regulation (EC) No 1272/2008.
