First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove to fresh air. Symptomatic treatment.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Rinse with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. If
irritation develops, seek medical attention.
Emergency measure - Skin: Remove contaminated clothing and wash affected area with
water. If irritation develops, seek medical attention.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Seek medical attention.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Carbon dioxide, water, foam or dry chemical may be used.

Product arising from burning: Products of combustion may contain oxides of carbon,
nitrogen and sulfur, together with some soot.

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: Full personal protective clothing and a self-contained
breathing apparatus should be worn.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Wear suitable protective clothing, see 2.3.1. Isolate
spillage. Use industrial vacuum fitted with suitable dust
filtration system. Transfer to suitably labelled containers
and dispose of in accordance woth local regulations. Wash
spill site down with water and/or sodium percabontae

Handling and storage

Handling: Avoid contact with eyes, skin and clothing. Avoid dust
formation. Handling should be effected under local exhaust
ventilation. Impermeable gloves with replaceable cotton
liners, chemical goggles and respirators should be worn.

Storage: Store in a dedicated area that is cool, dry and well

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: Sealed big bags.

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: All HUBA extrudate will be recycled in the processing plant.
All off-target material will be removed at the end of the
process and recycled back to the beginning of the process to
eliminate losses.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: HUBA and the extrudate particle containing HUBA can be
degraded by sodium percarbonate.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: This way to dispose the substance is very unlikely (see
water purification system).

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: The substance can be disposed of at a suitable facility.
Waste gas treatment to remove oxides of nitrogen, sulfur and
metal oxides smoke should be fitted.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: HUBA contained in the extrudate is formulated with other
chemicals for ultimate use in detergents. The formulation
process involves continuous production and dedicated
equipment systems, where no releases occur during regular
production. Whenever such equipment is cleaned, sodium
percarbonate and/or water solutions are used and disposed of
via the drain. The latter serves the entire P&G site and is
further diluted. When sodium percarbonate solution is used,
the residual HUBA is immediately degraded. When water only
is used, the residual HUBA is rapidly biodegraded in the
sewer and in publicly owned treatment work connected to the
processing plant.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The substance will only enter the public domain in the form
of household cleaning products which can be disposed of as
normal domestic waste.
