Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Flammability in contact with water: The test was not performed experimentally because practical experience exists at the sponsor and the test facility, e.g. when preparing test substance solution for testing for algae growth inhibition test and hydrolysis. The test substances in contact with water do not develop any gas at all. Therefore propyltriacetoxysilane is regarded as not being flammable in contact with water.
Pyrophoric properties: Data waiving (other justification): The test was not performed experimentally because practical experience, e.g. when handling small amounts of the test substance repeatedly in air during testing for various properties. Also experience from the test for auto-ignition of the test substance at elevated temperature is available. The test substance does not ignite in air at ca. 20 °C and even not at temperatures up to 300 °C. The test substance is therefore regarded as not being pyrophoric.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on experience on handling and use, the substance is stable and does not became spontaneously flammable or emit flammable gases in contact with water, and neither does spontaneously ignite when exposed to air, Propyltriacetoxysilane is considered to be non-flammable; therefore, the substance is not classified in accordance with CLP Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008.
