Description of key information

Half life period of 4,4'-dinitrostilbene-2,2'-disulphonic acid in water observed 60days.(half-life) while in sediment it is 540 days.(half-life). Based on this half life values of 4,4'-dinitrostilbene-2,2'-disulphonic acid, it is concluded that the chemical is non biodegradable in water and sediment medium.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Half-life in freshwater:
60 d
at the temperature of:
25 °C
Half-life in freshwater sediment:
540 d
at the temperature of:
25 °C

Additional information

Half life period of 4,4'-dinitrostilbene-2,2'-disulphonic acid in water observed 60days (half-life) while in sediment it is 540 days.(half-life).

The supporting study also indicates the half life of 4,4'-dinitrostilbene-2,2'-disulphonic acid in water and sediment to be 1440 hrs and 13000 hrs respectively.

Based on this half life values of 4,4'-dinitrostilbene-2,2'-disulphonic acid, it is concluded that the chemical is non biodegradable in water and sediment medium.
