Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The results of a number of studies are included in this section together with one comprehensive review. The study chosen for both freshwater and marine invertebrates were conducted in a closed system to reduce active ingredient losses by volatilisation. The best study on fresh water invertebrates for which a robust study is available is that by Abernethy et al 1986. However, the risk assessment conducted by De Rooij et al 2004 based on the EuroChlor review contains a better study Bobra et al 1984 which achieved a higher classification for reliability than the study included in the dossier. As this study has a lower LC50 value for freshwater invertebrates it is used as the endpoint. (as a matter of interest the Abernethy 1986 study restates the results from the Bobra 1983 study but calculates the LC50 incorrectly therefore the two studiesare in fact identical). For marine invertebrates the LC50 value is obtained in a similar way from the EuroChlor review.

Key:    Analysis A = Yes, N = nominal concentration. Study type S = static, SS = semi-static, FT = flow through. C = closed system.

Rating for validity 1 = valid without restriction, 2 = valid with restrictions, 3 = invalid, 4 = not assignable (inadequate data).
