Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

With high probability acutely not harmful to algae, no toxic effects occur in the range of water solubility.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

A GLP guideline study according to OECD 201 using a solvent was conducted. The NOEC (biomass) of the test substance in Desmodesmus subspicatus was found to be 46.9 mg/L based on the highest measured test concentration (CIBA-GEIGY 928220, 1992). Under REACH, the growth rate instead of the biomass is considered to be the relevant endpoint. The result based on biomass is considered to be valid anyway because it is usually the more sensitive endpoint and the ErC50 value is therfore not expected to fall below the low water solubility of the test item 0.000021 g/L, CIBA-GEIGY 22845, 1993).

Hence, the test substance is considered to be with high probability not harmful to aquatic algae.
