Description of key information

The test substance powder train did not burn over a length of 200 mm within 4 minutes. Tests on flammability in contact with water and pyrophoric properties were waived as no such properties are expected for the test substance.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The flammability of the test item was analyzed according to the EU directive 440/2008. The test substance powder train did not burn over a length of 200 mm within 4 minutes. Therefore the test item is not classified as flammable.

Flammability in contact with water:

In accordance with section 1 of REACH Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006, Annex XI, the water reactivity study does not need to be conducted as based on chemical structure and experience in handling and use water reactivity is not to be expected.

Pyrophoric properties:

In accordance with section 2.10.4 Annex I of Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 and ECHA guidance on the application of CLP Criteria section 2.10.4.2, the classification procedure for pyrophoric solids need not to be applied when experience in manufacturing or handling shows that the substance or mixture does not ignite spontaneously when coming into contact with air at normal temperatures. Based on the experience in handling and use the substance is not known to ignite spontaneously when coming into contact with air at normal temperatures. Thus, no study was conducted.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on the study results and experience in handling and use the test item was not classified as "highly flammable", "pyrophoric" or "flammable in contact with water" according to Directive 67/548/EEC (DSD) and Regulation (EC) 1272/2008 (CLP).
