The substance menthyl lactate is readily biodegradable under aerobic conditions.

The ready biodegradability of the substance was tested in accordance with OECD TG 301-E under GLP conditions. Over the testing period of 28 days, 100% removal of dissolved organic carbon was achieved. The substance was readily biodegradable and the 10-day window fulfilled. The suitability of the test system was demonstrated by a test with the reference substance aniline, which was fully degraded over a period of 14 days.
