Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Readily biodegradable: 82.2% (CO2 removal) in 28 d (OECD 301B; not GLP); 82.4% (CO2) in 28 days (OECD 301B; not GLP)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Biodegradation in water:
readily biodegradable

Additional information

In accordance with Section I REACH Annex XI, the biodegradation in water screening test does not need to be conducted as there are data which were found reliable and acceptable to fulfil this endpoint. The availability of existing data means further testing is unnecessary.

The most recent standard high reliability studies available contain results which are significant and fit for purpose even though the studies was not conducted to GLP. These studies gave results of 82.2% (C14 alcohol) and 82.4% (C16 alcohol) CO2 evolution in 28 days (OECD 301B). The finding is consistent with very high levels of removal in other types of test systems.

This substance is predicted to be readily biodegradable, meeting the ten-day window. This conclusion is drawn from read across of results

measured in reliable studies for analogous substances (other Category members).
