Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

at the temperature of:
25 °C

Additional information

No experimental data is available for DL-alpha-methylbenzylamine (CAS 618-36-0). Therefore the Henry's Law constant was estimated.

The Henry's Law constant was calculated to be 8.23 E-02 Pa*m³/mol according to the bond estimation method of the HENRYWIN Program (v3.20) of EPI Suite v4.10 (BASF SE, 2011). This value is representative for the uncharged molecule. At environmental conditions the molecule is expected to be ionised, therefore a pH-corrected Koc was calculated according to the REACH Guidance document (2008). The resulting Henry's Law constant for the environmentally relevant pH range of 4 to 9 are listed below (BASF SE, 2011).

pH 4: 6.85 E-07 Pa*m³/mol

pH 7: 6.79 E-04 Pa*m³/mol

pH 9: 3.74 E-02 Pa*m³/mol

Based on these values the substance will not evaporate into the atmosphere from the water surface.
