Description of key information

pKa: 3.13, 4.76 and 6.4 at 25°C (citric acid)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Trimagnesium dicitrate is expected to be dissociated to citrate and magnesium in water. Dissociation constant is not relevant for the magnesium ions.

Citric acid/citrate has three ionisable carboxylic acid groups. pKa values of 3.13, 4.76 and 6.4 at 25°C are reported in a handbook which has been subject to peer-review and in which the original data sources are traceable. The result is considered to be reliable.
