A screening test was conducted to determine the decomposition energy of the substance by thermal analysis (Differential Scanning Calorimetry, DSC).

The DSC curve shows a sharp endothermic melting peak, followed by two exothermic decomposition peaks. The decomposition energy of the two exothermal peaks together is 449 J/g (1st peak 239 J/g, 2nd peak 210 J/g)..

The total exothermic decomposition heat is < 500 J/g. This means that the substance can be designated as non-explosive according to European Chemicals Agency (ECHA), Guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment, Chapter R.7a, Endpoint specific guidance, May 2008, and according to EC Regulation No 1271/2008 (CLP), Annex I, Part 2, paragraph 2.1.4.2 and 2.1.4.3. It also means that further testing on explosive properties according to EC Regulation No 440/2008, Guideline A.14 or Part I of the UN RTDG, Manual of Tests and Criteria is not required.
