Conclusion on classification

Short-term toxicity tests for fish, Daphnia and algae are available for the substance. The ErC50 value for algae is between 0.1 -1 mg/l, whereas the LC50 value for fish and the EC50 for daphnia is between 1 and 10 mg/L. Based on the lowest available acute data for algae with an ErC50 value of 0.34 mg/L the substance needs to be classified as Category Acute 1 (CLP, 2011: Table 4.1.1; a) and H400. The lowest chronic available value is the NOEC of algae being 0.21 mg/L. The substance is readily biodegradable. Therefore, the substance needs to be classified for chronic toxicity according to Table 4.1.1, (b) ii, resulting in Chronic 3. Overall, it can be concluded that TM 11 -212 needs to be classified H400/H412 according to Regulation 1272/2008/EC (CLP, 2011); an M-factor of 1 is needed for acute toxicity and no M-factor needs to be applied for chronic toxicity. R50 needs to be applied according to Directive 67/548/EEC (DSD).
