Key result
Surface tension:
72.7 mN/m
Temp.:
20 °C
Conc.:
1 021 mg/L

A value of 72.8 mN/m was taken as the correct value of the surface tension of water at 20°C. The surface tension of highly purified water at 20 °C was measured to be 69.1 mN/m. This yields a calibration factor of 72.8/69.1 = 1.054.

The solution was prepared 10 minutes before it was transferred into the tensiometer vessel. The results are shown in attachment "T-1063FM - results surface tension determinations.pdf".

The surface tension of the saturated solution of the test substance in water at a temperature of 20 °C stabilizes to 72.7 mN/m.

Conclusions:
The test substance is not considered to be surface active (surface tension >60 mN/m).

Description of key information

72.7 mN/m (1.021 g/L at 20°C) (EC A.5)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Surface tension:
72.7
in mN/m at 20°C and concentration in mg/L:
1 021

Additional information

The test substance is not considered to be surface active (surface tension >60 mN/m).
