Description of key information

Decomposition from approximately 175 °C, OECD 103, EU Method A.2, Butler (2013)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

In the key study (Butler, 2013), the boiling point of the test material was investigated in a GLP study which was conducted in accordance with the standardised guidelines OECD 103 and EU Method A.2 using a liquid bath method according to Siwoloboff.

Aliquots of the test material were placed in a glass tube attached to thermometer and slowly heated at atmospheric pressure in a silicone oil bath until boiling or decomposition was observed.

Under the conditions of this study, no value for boiling point could be determined. The test material decomposed from approximately 175 °C (448 K) prior to boiling.

Supporting information is provided in the form of a review article (Summer, 2003) in which the boiling point of the test material was reported to be greater than 250 °C. No information on materials and methods is presented.
