Conclusion on classification

Acute

Toxicity results for fish, algae and daphnids are available for the substance. No effects were observed in these studies. The L(E)C50 values were >100 mg/L. Since these values are > 1 mg/L, the substance does not need to be classified according to Regulation 1272/2008/EC (CLP; Table 4.1.0(a)).

Chronic

Chronic toxicity data is only available for algae. No biologically relevant effects were observed; the 72-h NOEC value was 100 mg/L. The chronic classification has to be determined based on the chronic value for algae according to Table 4.1.0(b)(ii), as well as based on the (lowest) acute value(s) available for fish and Daphnia according to Table 4.1.0(b)(iii), and the most stringent outcome should be leading:

- The substance is readily biodegradable and the chronic value for algae is > 1 mg/L. Based on this information, the substance does not need to be classified for chronic toxicity.

- The substance is readily biodegradable, has a log Kow value < 4 and the L(E)C50 values for fish and Daphnids are > 100 mg/L. Based on this information, the substance does not need to be classified for chronic toxicity.

The substance therefore does not need to be classified for acute or chronic toxicity according to Regulation 1272/2008/EC.
