Description of key information

Toxicity in daphnia magna upon a 48 -hour exposure:

EC50 (24 and 48 h) = 10 - 100 mg/l

EC0 (24 h) = 10 mg/l

EC0 (48 h) = 1 mg/l

Additional information

No data on the target substance was available, thus data on RA Substance 01 and RA Substance 02 was used for the overall assessment.

In particular, RA Substance 01 is a copper complex and shares most of its structure with target substance (all 3 constituents) except for a small portion, which may possibly be released upon cleavage of an azo bond. RA Substance 02 was used to account for possible effects caused by this portion, based on its structural similarity.

48 -hour acute toxicity to daphnia magna was assessed under static exposure conditions, according to OECD guideline 202 at nominal concentrations of 100, 10 and 1 mg/l with RA Substance 01.

40 daphnids divided in 2 test vessels were exposed to each concentration. No analytical verification was done, assuming test substance was stable in water over 48 h.

After 24 h, 55 % immobilisation was seen at 100 mg/l and < 10 % at 10 mg/l, 1 mg/l and control.

After 48 h, 77.5 % immobilisation was seen at 100 mg/l, 15.5 % at 10 mg/l and < 10 % at 1 mg/l and in blank control.

Based on these immobilisation data:

EC50 (48h) between 10 and 100 mg/l,

EC0 (48h) = 1 mg/l

EC100 (48h) = 100 mg/l

In order to complete the assessment, a study on RA Substance 02 was examined: EC50 > 125 mg/l was found in a limit test.
