Description of key information

In a study to determine the hydrolysis rates of Polyol PX no significant levels of hydrolysis were detected after 5 days in buffers at pH 4, 7 and 9.

In all cases hydrolysis rates were less than 10% by day.

This result indicates a hydrolysis half-life of Polyol PX greater than 1 year at environmentally relevant temperatures and pH levels (between 4 and 9).

Additional information

The available results suggest that abiotic removal in the form of hydrolysis will not be a significant pathway of degradation for Reaction mass of 1,3-Propanediol, 2-(hydroxymethyl)-2-[(methoxymethoxy)methyl]- and 1,3-dioxane-5,5-dimethanol in the environment.
