Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

burning rate test: preliminary screening test
Remarks on result:
substance does not ignite and propagate combustion either by burning with flame or smouldering along 200 mm of the powder train within the 2 minutes test period

Results

Preliminary Test

About 26 g of the test item were used to form the test rope of pasty test item. The test was started by trying to ignite the pile at one end with a gas burner. After 2 minutes the flame was removed from the test item. The part of the test item which had direct contact with the ignition source melted and weak smoking was observed. During the ignition no independent burning or glowing over the length of the pile was observed.

Main Test

The main test was not performed because no burning or glowing over the length of the rope was observed in the preliminary test.

Conclusion

The flammability of the test item was determined according to EC method A.10. No independent burning or glowing over the length of the rope was observed in the preliminary test. Since no independent burning or glowing over the length of the rope was observed the test item does not have to be classified as ‘flammable solid.

Interpretation of results:
GHS criteria not met
Conclusions:
The flammability of the test item was determined according to EC method A.10. No independent burning or glowing of the test item over the length of the pile was observed in the preliminary test. Since no independent burning or glowing over the length of the pile was observed the test item has not to be classified as ‘flammable solid’.
Executive summary:

The aim of this study is the determination of the flammability (solids) of the test item according to EC method A10. No independent burning or glowing of the test item over the length of the pile was observed in the preliminary test. Since no independent burning or glowing over the length of the pile was observed the test item has not to be classified as ‘flammable solid’.

Description of key information

The flammability of the test item was determined according to EC method A.10. No independent burning or glowing of the test item over the length of the pile was observed in the preliminary test. Since no independent burning or glowing over the length of the pile was observed the test item has not to be classified as ‘flammable solid’.
