Description of key information
The substance is non-flammable and non-hazardous based on the flash point and the results of a flammability (contact with water) study.
Key value for chemical safety assessment
- Flammability:
- non flammable
Additional information
The test substance is a liquid at 20 °C and 101.3 kPa. According to ECHA guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment Chapter R.7a: Endpoint specific guidance, the primary value for ease of ignition in liquids is the flash point.
In addition the test material (tested as received) was subjected to water/dampness in a four step procedure and observations made for any evolution of gas. Testing was conducted using methods A 12 Flammability (contact with water). The test material has been determined to be non-hazardous as it did not produce gas at a rate greater than 1 litre/kg/hour.
Justification for classification or non-classification
The flash point of 2 -(2 -Vinyloxyethoxy)ethyl acrylate was determined to be 118.6 °C at 101.3kPa. Therefore, the test item does not need classifying as a flammable liquid according to the criteria described in Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008.
