Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

No information about the chronic toxicity of sodium 2,4 -dichlorophenoxyacetate (CAS No. 2702-72-9) to fish species is available. However, since this substance is highly soluble and it is rapidly dissociated in water, being 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (CAS No. 94-75-7) its main product, conclusions about this endpoint could be drawn based on 2,4-D acid data. Mayes et al. (1990) investigated the long-term effect of 2,4-D acid in early-life stages of Pimephales promelas for 32 days, using a flow-through water regime. This test was conducted according to EPA/FIFRA Guideline E72-4, International Standard Method for testing Acute Toxicity to Fish, under GLP conditions. A reduction on larval survival was observed between days 5 and 14 whereas no effects on hatching success, larval length or weight were reported at any concentration tested. At test termination, a NOEL of 63.4 mg a.i./L was determined.
