Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information
Additional information
The test substance HiTEC 7134 is acutely toxic to aquatic organisms. A 96-hour flow-through fish toxicity test was performed with rainbow trout,Oncorhynchus mykissusing a nominal test substance concentration range between 0.0175 and 0.56 mg/L, corresponding to a mean measured or estimated concentration range of 0.012 and 0.41 mg/L. Sublethal effects of surfacing, sounding, rapid and irregular respiration, dark discolouration and loss of balance were observed in the groups exposed to the highest concentrations after 48 hours of exposure. The derived LC50and NOEC values, based on mortality, were 0.20 and 0.025 mg/L, respectively, based on mean measured or estimated concentrations.
HiTEC 7134 was also found to be acutely toxic to the aquatic invertebrateDaphnia magnain a 48-hour static study. The mean measured concentration range of the test substance was between 0.084 and 0.74 mg/L, corresponding to a nominal concentration range of 0.1 and 1.0 mg/L. The 48-hour EC50was 0.11 mg /L based on mean measured concentration. The 48-hr NOEC was <0.084 mg/L, since there were symptoms of toxicity in all concentrations tested.
HiTEC 7134 was also found to be acutely inhibitory to the growth of the green alga,Selenastrum capricornutum. A nominal concentration range between 0.010 and 0.56 mg/L was tested, corresponding to a geometric mean-based concentration range of 0.0032 and 0.17 mg/L.The NOEC and 72 hours-ErC50values based on growth rate were 0.018 mg/L and 0.17 mg/L, respectively, based on mean measured test concentrations.
Toxicity of the test substance to microorganisms was also tested through the effect on the respiration rate of activated sludge. The test substance was found not to be toxic to microorganisms, and a 3-hour EC50 and EC10 were both greater than the highest concentration tested, >100 mg/L, while the NOEC was 100 mg/L.
For classification purposes, the lowest L(E)C50was considered. In the present case, the lowest L(E)C50was 0.11 mg/L for the speciesDaphnia magna. According with Reg (EC) 1272/2008, the substance HiTEC7134 is classified as acute category 1 H400: Very toxic to aquatic life’ and chronic category 1 H410: Very toxic to aquatic life with long lasting effects’ based on a LC50 for daphnia of 0.11 mg/l and given that the substance is not readily biodegradable.
