Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Symptomatic treatment

Emergency measure - Eyes: Irrigate proptly with clean water

Emergency measure - Skin: Wash with copious amounts of water

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Seek immediate attention

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Highly flammable liquid.

Foam, carbon dioxide on dry powder may be used.

Product arising from burning: Products of combustion may contain oxides of carbon and

nitrogen.

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: A self-contained breathing apparatus should be worn.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Absorb spillages on to sand or other suitable absorbent

medium, sweep up and transfer to waste containers for

disposal on an approved tip. Wash down area with water. Take

appropriate precautions for a volatile flammable chemical.

Do not allow to enter water courses.

Handling and storage

Handling: Normal standards of good housekeeping to avoid ingestion,

skin and eye contact and inhalation of vapour droplets.

Respiratory protection should be adopted.

Storage: Keep containers tightly sealed. Store in a cool place out of

contact with sources of ignition.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: Drums

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Recovery of the substance from minor spillages or accidental

discharge to effluent is not economically possible.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: For small quantities neutralisation using dilute

hydrochloric acid may be possible. However, the resulting

hydrochloride may be as toxic as the substance. For large

quantities absorb on suitable material and transfer to

suitable containers for disposal. (A631, A634)

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Provided dilution occurs to a concentration of (0.05 mg/l)

no acute effect on aquatic life is likely to occur. However

in view of its relative volatility, high water solubility

and biodegradability it is unlikely that the substance will

accumulate in water systems. (A641)

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: The pure substance may be rendered harmless by burning under

carefully controlled conditions. However since the notified

substance is only handled as a 50% aqueous solution this

method is likely to be impracticable.

(A661)

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Based on the ecotoxicological testing results it is

suggested that the maximum level of the substance in sewage

should be no greater than 2 mg/l to safeguard against

possible inhibitory effects to nitrification of sludge

digestion. As indicated in Section 5.2.1, ETA is aerobically

biodegradable essentially completely removed under normal

aerobic sewage treatment practice at influent concentrations

of 2 mg/l or less. (A641)

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The substance will not enter the public domain.
