Test solutions

Details on test solutions:
As dilution water was reconstituted water used according to ISO/DIS 7346/1 composition. The treatment was carried out in a system consisting of two steel basin with Hostalen® lining and a capacity of 700 liters each. The dilution water solution prepared was vented to the oxygen saturation. The experiment was carried out in a static system, the calibrated to 10 liters test container consisted of glass (30 cm long, 22 cm wide, 24 cm high) and were in a water bath made ¿¿of Hostalit Zr with a visible disk of plexiglass. The test substance was mixed with dilution water with the ultra-turrax and introduced ultrasonic homogenizing and stirring with a glass rod in the experimental basin.

TEST SYSTEM
The temperature was measured with oxygen meter (OXI 196 mte) and oxygen electrode (EO 196 1 1.5). Oxygen content was measured with electronic measuring oxygen (meter oxi 196). The pH was measured with an pH meter( ph 763) electronic measurement. The test substance was mixed with dilution with ultra turrax and ultrasonic homogenizing and stir with a glass rod placed in the experimental tank. The testing solution with the exception of the 10 mg / L group, had a slight turbidity at 25 and 35 mg / L.

On presentation of the proof concentrations and subsequent measurement of water parameters per Pruf and control pool of 10 fish were used randomly. Throughout the experimental period, the fish were not fed.

After 2 -4, 24, 48, 72 and 96 hours is an inspection of the fish was the lethality and cause visible changes in the appearance and behavior were recorded and dead fish were removed from the pool. The fish was removed if no respiratory movements were more visible and he no longer even on slightly mechanical irritant response. On the same date the water parameters were measured and logged as well.

Since the factor of the square root of concentration levels 2 was no other concentrations were gepruft. Was given the experimentally determined value of the LC50 .

The holder was over a period of at least 14 days before trial begins in evaporating water planning under the following conditions.
Immediately before commencing trial was representative of the batch of fish used jeweil 10 fishing korperlange determined. these animals were not used for the experiment.

Details on results:

At 5 mg /L there was protruding gill. In the concentration range of 10 to 50 mg /L fish showed the following symptoms: increased respiratory rate and respiratory movements. Activity decreased to elevated terrible reaction swim or stand at the waser upper flat and stagger on pelvic floor isolated in the side or supine position gyroscopes. The dead fish were lightened to dark discolored.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Validity criteria fulfilled:
yes
Conclusions:
96-hr LC50 of BME is 35 mg/l.
Executive summary:

The acute toxicity of BME of 98% purity was tested on Zebra fish (Danio rerio) for 96 hours according to OECD 203 testing guidelines. A stock solution was prepared in water and pH-adjusted to 6.9 - 8.2. The LC50 was 35 mg/L. Probit analysis was not possible due to the present mortality and the study is considered as valid with restrictions
