Description of key information

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Skin sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
adverse effect observed (sensitising)
Additional information:

Based on the sensitization rate of 30% (including transient irritant reactions), which is at the threshold of significance set in OECD-GHS as well as in Council Directive 67/548/EEC, test item CA 2343 A is a skin sensitizer.

Migrated from Short description of key information:
A Klimisch-1-rated skin senitisation study was conducted in 1995. The study resulted in a classification as skin sensitizer category 1.

Justification for classification or non-classification

- GHS / CLP: Classification as "skin sensitizer category 1", H317 "may cause allergic skin reaction"; signal word "warning", pictogram "exclamation mark".

- DSD - Annex VI of 67/548/ECC: Classification as "irritant, Xi", R43 "may cause sensitization by skin contact; code letter "Xi", pictogram "St. Andrew's cross" (note that in DSD labelling, Xi will not be used as warning label since the substance is already labelled as Xn, harmful, as described in summary 7.2).
