Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Sodium dibutyldithiocarbamate is readily biodegradable under aerobic conditions.

Additional information

Sodium dibutyldithiocarbamate is readily biodegradable under aerobic conditions. No simulation tests are available. No data on biodegradation is available for sodium dibutyldithiocarbamate. However, data from the structural analogue sodium dimethyldithiocarbamate can be used instead (for details see Reporting Format as attached to the respective IUCLID entry and CSR Appendix A.1). In a GLP-compliant, OECD 301D guideline Closed Bottle Test >67.4% degradation is observed after 28 days (LISEC, 2003a). Therefore, it is assumed that also sodium dibutyldithiocarbamate is readily biodegradable. The biotic degradation rate constants at environmental temperature used in the assessment are:

Degradation in STP

24 d-1

Biodegradation in water

0.0462 d-1

Biodegradation in sediment

0.0231 d-1

Biodegradation in soil
