- other: No explosions occurred and each test was suspended after a total heating period of 5 minutes
- Interpretation of results:
- GHS criteria not met
- Conclusions:
- The test substance does not have explosive properties.
- Executive summary:
The explosive properties of the test substance were determined by assessing mechanical sensitivity with the BAM Fall Hammer and BAM Friction Apparatus. Thermal sensitivity was assessed using the Koenen steel tube apparatus. The study was performed according to EU Method A.14 following GLP principles. The test substance was determined not to be thermal and mechanical (both shock and friction) sensitivity. Therefore, the test substance is not classified as an explosive.
Reference
Results mechanical sensitivity (shock)
The six tests performed by dropping a 10 kg weight from a height of 0.4 m did not result in ignition or explosion on impact.
Results mechanical sensitivity (friction)
The six tests are carried out with a loading force of 360 newtons did results in signs of decomposition of the test substance, as indicated by black marks on the porcelain plate and pin after each test.
Method thermal sensitivity
No explosions occurred and each test was suspended after a total heating period of 5 minutes. During testing, after a time t1 (time elapsed from ignition of burners to the first noticeable reaction of the test substance) and lasting for a time t2 ( time elapsed from t1 to the end of the reaction), the sample vented through the orifice and burned with a flame.
Description of key information
