Aquatic toxicity:

Three acute experimental studies and three QSAR predictions are available to assess the aquatic toxicity of the registered substance.

For aquatic invertebrates, the experimental study, performed on Daphnia magna, was not considered reliable due to major methodological deficiencies. Therefore, a QSAR prediction for this endpoint was performed usingiSafeRat® High-Accuracy-Quantitative Structure-Activity Relationship (KREATIS, 2019) and the 48h-EC50 value, used as key data, was predicted at 136 mg/L.

For algae and fish, the experimental studies, performed on Desmodesmus subspicatus and Gobiocypris rarus respectively, were considered reliable. In these studies, no toxicity was observed up to 100 mg/L for both trophic levels. However, in order to obtain quantitative toxicity values, QSAR predictions were performed using iSafeRat® High-Accuracy-Quantitative Structure-Activity Relationship (KREATIS, 2019). The 72h-ErC50 value for algae and 96h-LC50 value for fish, used as key data, were predicted at 145 mg/L and 164 mg/L, respectively.

Environmental fate and pathways:

The registered substance is not readily biodegradable (7% biodegradation after 28 days in the OECD 301F key study, 20% after 60 days). Therefore, in the absence of other studies, the substance can be considered potentially Persistent (P) or very Persistent (vP) in the environment. However, with a log Kow value at 2.2, the substance is not considered to be bioaccumulative according to CLP (< 4.0) and PBT criteria (< 4.5).

Conclusion on classification

No harmonised classification is available.

Data available:

- E(L)C50 values > 100 mg/L;

- Not rapidly degradable;

- No experimental BCF but log Kow < 4.

Classification according to the Annex VI of the Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 (CLP): The registered substance is not classified for the environment.
