In accordance with REACH regulation Annex VII column 2, the calculation was made as followed: Estimation based on Ideal Gas Law, as: Density = PM/(RT). The relative density compared to air equals the ratio of molar masses:
- Nitrogen monoxide: M=30.01 g/mol  
- Air: M= 28.97 g/mol (based on its composition)  
Therefore:
- at 20°C, NO density is 1.247 kg/m3
- relative density to air of NO is 1.036, at any temperature and pressure (NB: density of air is 1.204 kg/m3 at 20°C).
