Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The acute toxicity of the test item to the freshwater fish rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) has been investigated using the threshold approach and gave

a 96-Hour LL50 value of greater than 0.16 mg/L (Regulatory endpoint) loading rate WAF.

Exposure of the freshwater invertebrate Daphnia magna to the test item has been investigated and gave the following results at 48 Hours with EL50 (mg/L Loading Rate WAF):

No Observed Effect Loading Rate (NOEL) (mg/L) = 1.0

Lowest Observed Effect Loading Rate (LOEL) (mg/L) = 1.8

The effect of the test item on the growth of Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata has been investigated over a 72-Hour period and gave the following results:

EL50 (mg/l loading rate WAF)

Growth rate- 0.31

Yield-0.16

95% confidence limits (mg/L loading rate WAF)

Growth rate- 0.30-0.32

No observed effect loading rate (NOEL) mg/l

Growth rate- 0.10 (Regulatory endpoint)

Yield- 0.10

Lowest Observed Effect Loading Rate

Growth rate- 0.32

Yield- 0.32

The conclusions above show the potential risk to acute aquatic toxicity. To ensure a conservative approach is maintained, the NOEL used should be taken from the most sensitive species for which testing data is available, for this substance this is the fish (Oncorhynchus mykiss) using a threshold dose and algae (Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata) . 4,4'-Isopropylidenediphenol, oligomeric reaction products with 1-chloro-2,3-epoxypropane, reaction products with ethylenediamine has a conservative NOEL of 0.1 mg/L based on algae and EL50 of 0.16 mg/L based on the fish test.
