Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

ErC50 (96 h, D. subspicatus) > 100 mg/L (nominal)

NOEC (96 h, D. subspicatus) = 100 mg/L (nominal)

Additional information

Ester B is not expected to be toxic in water as it is readily biodegradable and its water solubility is below 1 mg/L at 25 °C (REACH regulation ANNEX VIII column II). This was supported by an experimental study on the aquatic algae Desmodesmus subspicatus in a 96 hour algal growth inhibition test, according to the OECD Guideline 201 (2011). The test item did not significantly inhibit the growth rate or yield of D. subspicatus following a 72-hour exposure up to its solubility limit; therefore, the ErC50 and EyC50 values were determined to be greater than 100 mg/L, and the NOEC is at least 100 mg/L, based on nominal concentrations.
