Reference
Name:
3-[3,3,3-trimethyl-1,1-bis[(trimethylsilyl)oxy]disiloxanyl]propyl methacrylate
Type of composition:
legal entity composition of the substance
State / form:
liquid
Reference substance:
3-[3,3,3-trimethyl-1,1-bis[(trimethylsilyl)oxy]disiloxanyl]propyl methacrylate
PBT status:
the substance is handled as if it were a PBT/vPvB
Justification:

Based on the screening criteria and the available information a conclusion on the PBT properties of the substance is not possible.

The substance contains hydrolysable groups, but in the available screening study for biodegradation not relevant degradation was observed. In addition, it is likely that the substance adsorbs the particulate matter and is not available for hydrolysis and/or biodegradation. There are no data for stability available for the sediment and soil compartment.

Due to the precautionary principle, the substance is assumed to fulfil the P criteria.

The partition coefficient of the substance is estimated to be 9.0 by QSAR calculations. The maximum diameter is calculated using QSAR Toolbox (V.4.3.1) at 15.2 A. Information on the solubility in octanol of the substance is not available.

Due to the physical parameters and the findings in the screening study for toxicity to reproduction (STOT RE classification), the substance is considered to fulfil the screening criteria for bioaccumulation.

Considering the observed adverse effects on the liver in the available repeated dose toxicity studies, the substance is classified as STOT RE 2. Therefore, the substance fulfils the T criteria.
