Materials and methods

Test guideline
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
other: United Nations Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods - Manual of Tests and Criteria - Sixth revised edition (2015) - Method N.4 (Part III, Section 33.3.1.6)
Deviations:
no
Principles of method if other than guideline:
Explosive items and items which ignite spontaneously in contact with air at room temperature should not be submitted to this test.
A volume (approximately 16 cm3 and 1 dm3) of the test item is placed in a hot-air circulating type of oven at 100 °C, 120 °C or 140 °C ± 2 °C. Two thermocouples were necessary, one placed in the center of the sample and another between the sample container ant theoven wall.
Each sample container should be housed in a cubic container slightly larger than the sample container. In order to avoid the effect of air circulation, this cover is installed in a second stainless steel cage.
GLP compliance:
yes
