Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Reference
Endpoint:
dissociation constant
Type of information:
other: Guideline based expert statement
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
1997-07-09
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study with acceptable restrictions
Remarks:
the different methods of OECD Guideline 112 are not applicable due to different points (see below), so only an expert statement is possible
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 112 (Dissociation Constants in Water)
Principles of method if other than guideline:
The titration method is not applicable since the test substance does not dissolve in water (water solubility < 1 mg/L determined during NOTOX project 205987).
The spectrophotometric method is not applicable since the test substance does not have a chromophoric group.
According to the sponsor the test substance is a trimethylolpropane ester of mainly C16-18 saturated and C18-unsaturated straight and branched chain monocarboxylic acids. However, the structure of the different esters present in the test substance is not known, making the calculation method inapplicable.
GLP compliance:
yes
Dissociating properties:
no

Dissosciation constant: not possible to be determined. However it is expected that esters do not dissociate because they have no ionisable groups

Description of key information

There is no dissociation expected.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The dissociation of the substance fatty acids, C16-18 (even numbered) and C18-unsatd., branched and linear, di- and triesters with trimethylolpropane (former CAS 85005 -23 -8) was excluded due to the structure of possible components. The substance has no ionisable groups.
