Administrative data
First-aid measures
Inhalation:
Victims must be brought into the fresh air using a respiratory device with an atmosphere-independent air supply. Keep victims warm and quiet. Consult a physician immediately. Artificial respiration in case victim stops breathing.
Eye contact:
Rinse thoroughly with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes and consult a physician.
Ingestion:
Ingestion by swallowing is not considered a possible mode of exposure.
Symptoms:
High concentrations may cause asphyxia. Symptoms may include loss of ability to move and loss of consciousness. Victims are not aware of asphyxia. Can cause headache, nausea and irritation of respiratory organs.
Fire-fighting measures
Suitable extinguishing media:

carbon dioxide (CO2)
Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture:
Outflowing, ignited gas cannot be extinguished.
Stop gas leak if this can be done at no risk.
Cool container with jet of water spray from a safe distance
Extinguish all other flames.
Advice for firefighters:
Do not quench escaping gas, since an explosion-like recombustion is possible.
In the event of fire, wear self-contained breathing apparatus.
Accidental release measures
Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures:
Leave room immediately.
Alert all persons!
Close off the danger area with a wide security zone, stay up wind of any gas leak in the open air.
Dispose of ignition sources.
Assure sufficient ventilation.
Environmental precautions:
Stop gas leak if this can be done at no risk.
Prevent substance from entering sewers, cellars, trenches, pits or other places in which a collection of gas could be dangrous
Methods and material for containment and cleaning up:
Evacuate all persons from the area and keep combustion sources at a distance until all of the spilt liquid has evaporated (ground frost-free).
Absorb mechanically avoiding production of dust.
Rinse away any residue with water. Collect in suitable containers.
Handling and storage
Precautions for safe handling:
Use only explosion-proof equipment.
Prevent water from entering the gas container.
Carefully flush clear and render inert before working on containers and lines.
Prevent reflux into the gas container.
Use only equipment that is suitable for use with this product at the prescribed pressure and temperature.
Consult supplier in case of doubt.
Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities:
Advice on protection against fire and explosion
Take precautionary measures against static charges, keep away from sources of ignition.

Store gas container and pressurized gas bottles in a cool and well-ventilated place
Observe special instructions applicable to compressed gases.

Engineering measures
If possible, use material transfer/filling, metering and blending plants that are closed, or provide for local suction devices.
Priority should be given to closed-system units.
Personal protective equipment

In case of dusts/vapours/aerosols being formed or if the limit values like TLV are exceeded:
use respiratory equipment with suitable filter (filter type ABEK) or wear a self contained respiratory apparatus
Use only respiratory protection equipment with CE-symbol including four digit test number.
The filter class for the respirator must be suitable for the maximum expected contaminant concentration (gas/vapour/aerosol/particulates) that may arise when handling the product. If this concentration is exceeded, self-contained breathing apparatus must be used.
Note time limit for wearing respiratory protective equipment.
Hand protection
Use leather gloves as a protection against injury from handling pressurised gas cylinder or from freezing as a result of rapidly evaporating gas.
Eye protection

Change gas-saturated clothes immediately
Do not breathe gas.

Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practices.
The personal protective equipment used must meet the requirements of directive 89/686/EEC and amendments (CE certification).
If workplace exposure limits are exceeded and/or larger amounts are released (leakage, spilling, dust) the indicated respiratory protection should be used.
If there is the possibility of skin/eye contact, the indicated hand/eye/body protection should be used.

Disposal considerations
Waste treatment methods
Product
Do not release at locations at which there is a risk that an explosive gas/air mixture will form. Burn off unused gas with a suitable burner equipped with a flashback arrester only. Wash combustion gas with water to precipitate silicon dioxide. Do not release into sewers, cellars, workpits and other locations where collection of the gas might cause a hazard. Consult gas supplier concerning any problems.
Uncleaned packaging
Empty pressure vessels should be returned to the supplier.
If there is product residue in the emptied container, follow directions for handling on the container's label.
Incorrect disposal or reuse of this container is illegal and can be dangerous.
Other countries: observe the national regulations.
Waste Key Number
No waste key number as per the European Waste Types List can be assigned to this product, since such classification is based on the (as yet undetermined) use to which the product is put by the consumer.
The waste key number must be determined as per the European Waste Types List (decision on EU Waste Types List 2000/532/EC) in cooperation with the disposal firm / producing firm / official authority.
