Description of key information

1,6 –divinylfluorohexane is a volatile liquid having low water solubility and affinity for organic matter.

Because of the fluorinated structure, no significant biological degradation is expected in any of the environmental compartment and it is not anticipated to undergo to hydrolysis is water. No data of abiotic degradation in the atmosphere are available.

Altough its vapour pressure at standard condition is not extremly elevated, because of the poor water solubility the Henry Law’s constant is high (ca. 2.6 x 10E5 Pa m3/mol at 20°C) indicating that in a system water-air the substance has indeed a high tendency to rapidly volatilize from water reaching the atmospheric compartment.

Because of its affinity for organic carbon it is expected to be hardly mobile in soil.

The Log Kow > 4 indicates a potential for bioaccumulation in the aquatic organisms, however the actual possibility of bioaccumulate in aquatic organisms is expected to be limited by the short permanence time in the aquatic environment, due to its tendency to volatilize from water.

It is not expected to be significantly bioaccumulable in air-breathing organisms as the log Koa value = 2.15 indicate that the substance, if assumed by the organisms, would be efficiently exhaled with respiration.
