A CO2-evolution test according to EU guideline C.4 -C and OECD guideline 301 B was performed in order to evaluate aerobic elimination and degradation potential of the test item. An initial test concentration of 20 mg organic carbon/L (corresponding to 26.6 mg test item/L) was applied. Based on CO2 evolution a mean degradation of 74% was observed at the end of the "10-days window" (day 2 - 12). Degradation values were decreasing at the end of the test due to a stronger CO2 emission of the controls, but stayed above 60% from day 12 on. Therefore, the test substance is regarded as readily biodegradable. If degradation in the toxicity flask is below 25% after 14 days, the test item can be considered as toxic towards the inoculum. As degradation in the toxicity flask was 63% after 14 days, the test item can be stated as "no toxic towards the inoculum in a concentration of 26.5 mg/L". The results of the test can be considered valid.
