First-aid measures
Take persons to a safe place. Observe self-protection for first aid. Always seek medical advice in the event of contact with this substance.
After inhalation:
Keep the patient calm. If unconscious place in stable sideways position. Protect against loss of body heat. If breathing stops, administer artificial respiration. Seek medical advice immediately and clearly identify substance.
After contact with the skin:
Remove contaminated clothes at once. Wash off with plenty of water or water and soap immediately for 10-15 minutes. In serious cases, use emergency shower immediately. Seek medical advice immediately and clearly identify substance.
After contact with the eyes:
Rinse immediately with plenty of water for 10-15 minutes. Keep eyelids well open to rinse the whole eye surface and eyelids with water. Seek medical advice immediately and clearly identify substance. Continue to bathe eyes during transport to medical practitioner.
After swallowing:
If conscious, give several small portions of water to drink. Do not induce vomiting. Seek medical advice immediately and clearly identify substance.
Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed
After inhalation: treat as early as possible using cortisone spray. Medical checks necessary up to a latency period of at least 24 hours. In the event of 1st degree burns use corticoid-externa. In the case of 2nd degree burns, use symptomatic treatment. Further toxicology information in section toxicological information must be observed.
Fire-fighting measures
Suitable extinguishing media:
alcohol-resistant foam . For small amounts: carbon dioxide .
Extinguishing media which must not be used for safety reasons:
water , extinguishing powder.
Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture
Hazardous combustion products: hydrogen chloride , silicon dioxide.
Advice for firefighters
Special protective equipment for fire fighting:
Use respiratory protection independent of recirculated air.
General information:
Fight fire from a safe distance.
Accidental release measures
Wear personal protection equipment (see section 8). Task force: Use tightly fitting chemical protection suit (see section 8). Keep unprotected persons away. Take persons to a safe place. Avoid contact with eyes and skin. Avoid inhaling mists and vapours. Observe wind direction.Environmental precautions
Prevent material from entering surface waters, drains or sewers and soil. Contain any fluid that runs out using suitable material (e.g. earth). Retain contaminated water/extinguishing water. Dispose of in prescribed marked containers. Observe local/state/federal regulations. Methods and material for containment and cleaning up
Do not flush away with water. For small amounts: Absorb with liquid, mainly acid binding material and dispose of according to local/state/federal regulation. Cover larger quantities by near waterless foam and take up in container. Exhaust vapours.Further information:
Eliminate all sources of ignition.
Handling and storage
General information:
Avoid exposure by technical measures or personal protective equipment.
Precautions for safe handling:
Ensure adequate ventilation. Must be syphoned off in situ. Keep away from incompatible substances in accordance with section 10.
Precautions against fire and explosion:
Flammable vapors may accumulate and form explosive mixtures with air in containers, process vessels, including partial, empty and uncleaned containers and vessels, or other enclosed spaces. Vapours heavier than air, therefore inflammable gas mixture may form mainly near floor. Keep away from sources of ignition and do not smoke. Take precautionary measures against electrostatic charging.
Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities
Conditions for storage rooms and vessels:
Do not store in containers made of aluminum or other light metals.
Advice for storage of incompatible materials:
Keep away from alkalis. Keep away from water.
Further information for storage:
Keep in the original container in a cool well ventilated place. Keep container dry and tightly closed.

Exposure controls / personal protection
Exposure in the work place limited and controlled
General protection and hygiene measures:
Remove contaminated, soaked clothing immediately. Do not breathe vapours. Avoid contact with eyes and skin. Do not eat, drink or smoke when handling. Provide emergency shower and eye-bath.
Personal protection equipment:
Respiratory protection:
Respiratory protection required. gas mask filter ABEK P2 . In case of long or strong exposure: positive pressure self contained breathing apparatus .
Hand protection:
Protective gloves generally only suitable as splash protection. Protective gloves made of butyl rubber (0,5 mm) . Due to the substance‘s properties, contaminated gloves must be immediately decontaminated and changed. The permeation time is reduced by mechanical and thermal stresses above 20°C. The selection of appropriate gloves not only depends on the material, but also on other quality characteristics, and may vary depending on the manufacturer. Please observe information from your glove supplier in terms of permeability and breakthrough time.
Eye protection:
tight fitting protective goggles . Where there is risk of splashing: protective shield .
Skin protection:
full protective suit . Immediately decontaminate and change contaminated protective clothing.
Exposure to the environment limited and controlled
Prevent material from entering surface waters, drains or sewers and soil. Do not introduce large amounts into purification plants.
Further information for system design and engineering measures
Observe regulations for protection against explosion. Use only in closed systems.
Stability and reactivity
Violent reactions are possible with various chemicals.
Conditions to avoid
Keep away from incompatible substances.
Incompatible materials
proton-active substances . Reacts with: water , basic substances , acids , alcohols , ketones/aldehydes . Reaction causes the formation of: hydrogen chloride and heat.
Hazardous decomposition products
Under the effect of humidity, water and protic agents: hydrogen chloride.
Disposal considerations
Material
Recommendation:
Dispose of according to regulations by incineration in a special waste incinerator. Observe local/state/federal regulations. Ensure special chem./phys. treatment after discussion with the supplier.
Uncleaned packaging
Recommendation:
Completely discharge containers (no tear drops, no powder rest, scraped carefully). Containers may be recycled or re-used. Observe local/state/federal regulations. Uncleaned packaging should be treated with the same precautions as the material.
