A reliable GLP-conform study (Klimisch 2) is available for the effect of zinc neodecanoate on the biomass and growth rate of Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata, according to the OECD 201 guideline, resulting in an acute 72h-ErC50 values for growth rate of 1.69 mg/L (Cheshire Ecosolutions, 2013).

Algae are considered as the most sensitive aquatic organisms for toxicity of zinc neodecanoate because algae are the most sensitive aquatic organisms for zinc and neodecanoic acid is far less toxic to aquatic organisms compared to zinc. No toxicity data are available for effect of zinc neodecanoate to other aquatic organisms and a read-across approach is followed to toxicity data for the dissolved zinc-ion.
