Description of key information

The log Koc for main lanolin alcohols was estimated by WSKOW (v1.41); Estimation Programs Interface Suite™ for Microsoft® Windows, v 4.00. United States Environmental Protection Agency, Washington, DC, USA.
The estimated values for cholesterol, Lanosterol, Dihhydrolanosterol and 1 -Hexadecanol were:
Cholestrol: Log Koc = 6.19; Lanosterol: Log Koc = 6.78; 1 -Hexadecanol: Log Koc = 3.67; Dihydrolanosterol: Log Koc = 6.53
This is an indication that the lanolin alcohols are likely to adhere to soil particles in the environment.

Additional information

Adsorption/ desorption was the only endpoint assessed at this level as regards transport and distribution.
