Description of key information
With an average combustion-speed of 34.5 s/100 mm and a burning level of 5,methenaminein its solid form was determined to be highly flammable (combustion-speed < 45 s/100 mm). However, no flammability in contact with water and no pyrophoric properties are expected based on the chemical structure ofmethenamine. Therefore no studies with regard to these endpoints were performed.

Justification for classification or non-classification
Based on the results of the flammability test (highly flammable, Key study) and taking into account the provisions laid down in CLP (1272/2008/EC), methenamine in its solid form is classified as flam. solid cat. 2 (H228 flammable solid) according to CLP (GHS).
