BCF of Direct Red 23 (DR23) neutral form was calculated using the software EpiSuite 4.1., the suite of physical/chemical property and environmental fate estimation programs developed by the EPA’s Office of Pollution Prevention Toxics and Syracuse Research Corporation (SRC). DR23 is expected as a substance with a low potential for bioaccumulation.
The partition coefficient log Kow of 0.0019 (R&C, 2012) confirms this previsional consideration and based on REACH regulation annex IX column 2 (specific rules for adaptation from column 1) the study need not be conducted if the substance has a low potential for bioaccumulation (for instance a log Kow < 3) and/or a low potential to cross biological membranes.
