Additional information

Results from calculated classification (using mixture toxicity rules) are supported (WoE) by additional consideration from physico-chemical properties of the UVCB substance.

Chemistry and mineralogy of the material (see IUCLID section 4.23 chemical and mineralogical characterization) were taken into account. Substance is a paste (slime) that once dried show powder form (see picture in IUCLID section 1.4 "sampling protocol") which particle size distribution (IUCLID section 4.5) for a worst case sample (ie substance is normally dried for transport, when handled or commercialized) demonstrated that material is powder forms (inhalable and/or swallowable). Water solubility (IUCLID section 4.8) furthermore demonstrated that substance is, at least partly, moderately to fully soluble in water.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Acute toxic (oral): Category 3 H301 for grade 1

Category 2 H300 for grade 2      Major driver is Arsenic, in oxides and compounds forms

Acute toxic (dermal): not classified for all grades

Acute toxic (inhalation): Category 4 H332 (major driver is Arsenic, in oxides and compounds forms) for all grades

 The tested sample is representative for copper slimes, as defined within the concentration ranges outlined under IUCLID section 1.2 (Typicals across industry)
