Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Several studies investigating the toxicity of Ni to soil macroorganisms were identified as key studies, and used for derivation of the HC5 and terrestrial PNEC. The lowest NOEC/EC10 value was 47.6 mg Ni/kg dw.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Long-term EC10, LC10 or NOEC for soil macroorganisms:
47.6 mg/kg soil dw

Additional information

Chronic data are available for different species of non-arthropod soil invertebrates. NOEC/EC10 values range from 46.5 mg Ni/kg for reproduction by the earthworm Eisenia fetida (University of Ghent and Euras, 2005) to 1140 mg Ni/kg for reproduction by E. fetida (University of Ghent and Euras, 2005).  Below are the accepted high quality studies for non-arthropod soil macro-organisms used for derivation of the HC5 and terrestrial PNEC.
